November 23-29th is National Farm City Week?
The Farm City Council was created to help bridge the gap between urban and rural residents. As you talk to your children about Thanksgiving - you might share some of these fun facts about agriculture.

~ Americans eat 45 million turkeys each Thanksgiving! Gobble Gobble!

~ Pumpkins are a fruit, not a vegetable.

~ At 300 million pounds, Wisconsin produces the most cranberries in the US annually.

~ It takes 40 minutes to hard boil an ostrich egg. At 2.75 pounds, it is the equivalent of 2 dozen chicken eggs. ~ The US produces 87 billion eggs per year and the average American eats the equivalent of 254 eggs per year... (Yummy deviled eggs!)

~ 6 out of 10 apples eaten in the US are from Washington State.

~ It takes 12 honeybees to produce a tablespoon of honey.

~ The average cow produces 2,100 pounds of milk a month - which adds up to 46,000 glasses of milk annually.

~ Potatoes are the only crops grown in all 50 states.
